Java 7 adoption grows to 18%

We at Jelastic PaaS are continuing to share the statistics of Java applications that we see running on Jelastic. A month ago we reported that about 10% of environments in Jelastic were on Java 7 – guess what, in November this jumped to 18%:

Looking by region, we are seeing even higher penetration in our deployment in Europe:

Or to put the data in a table format:

Europe

NA

Total

Java 6

79%

84%

82%

Java 7

21%

16%

18%

This growth is especially impressive considering that Java 6 is currently the default option in Jelastic, so users who turn to Java 7 make this selection explicitly.

Stay tuned to see the changes next month!

What are your thoughts on the version of Java that should be the default for new environments in Jelastic? Java 6 like today? Java 7? Random? ;)
