This week’s newsletter has a ton of stuff, from guests posts to our most read post ever, from how-to’s to… well, a lot of stuff!
Our most read post ever!
It is our most read post to date! Over 2,700 reads in less than 6 hours!
Okay… so who wrote it? What was it about?
The title was “Java and Cloud in 10 minutes? Jelastic!” It was written by our friend Sander de Vos. He was basically evaluating Jelastic. He started off a little bit skeptical but by the end he is totally sold.
If you would like to see exactly what liked and didn’t about Jelastic, you can read the whole article here.
Deploying exiting Play! applications to the Cloud
This was another guest post (something we want to continue and grow: if you are interested and having something cool, please tell us!) from our buddy Leo, a self-professed Java and Play! Framework geek. He had read our previous how-to on deploying the Play! Framework to Jelastic and decided to deploy some of his own stuff to the Jelastic Cloud.
So, he wrote his short how-to for his own blog and then we picked it up. If you are interested in deploying an existing Play! app, then you should give his short how-to a look. You can find it here.
Using GlassFish’s Connection Pool within Jelastic
If you use GlassFish, you already know how great it is. And you probably already know about its Connection Pool. Right?
The GlassFish Connection Pool basically pools connections and eliminates the lag that comes from having a ton of individual requests done separately. The Connection Pooling mechanism handles the resources for servers that follow theJ2EE Connector Architecture – Common Client Interface standard, such as EIS Server, JMS Server and Database Server.
If you are interested in reading a little more about the Connection Pooling mechanism and how to make it work for you within Jelastic, you can read the how-to.
This next week, we will be at World Hosting Days in Germany. We will be there with our partners, HostEurope, dogado and Servint. If you are around, please stop by and say hello! We would love to meet with you and buy you a drink if you have the time.

Thank you so much for using Jelastic. We appreciate your support and are working hard to make sure that Jelastic is and continues to be the best answer to putting Java apps in the Cloud.
