Software Stack Market Share: July 2012

As the end of July approaches, we are updating the usage stats for the software stacks available to our users with Jelastic. So, let’s check out the stats on databases, application servers and Java versions for July.

Databases

Below is the overall usage of databases within Jelastic for July 2012.

As you see MySQL continues to be our leading database.

Now, with our newest partner, Tsukaeru, to add not only new users but another region to our stats, let’s check out the database preferences of our users with the addition of Japan to the mix. One thing that you notice almost immediately is that PostgreSQL isn’t nearly as popular in Japan as in other countries. But it’s only the first month of stats from Japan, and we’ve seen that those numbers can change pretty fast.

Application servers

Looking at our stats on application servers, not much has changed. If anything, we now have Tomcat 7 being our leader for almost half of a year.

Below is the open-source application server popularity in different regions. Now, it seems that Japanese developers are in agreement with other developers around the world.
