251ISVs, small and medium enterprises are looking for an easy way to move their entire stack with large-scale applications to the cloud in an easy, secure and reliable way. They want to simplify the management of complex environments and reduce costs, as well as to be able to focus on their core business and not on building and maintaining cloud servers.

There are some of the typical requirements requested by ISVs, enterprises, DevOps teams and governmental organizations looking to make a move to the cloud:

  • CI and management of dev/test/staging environments for Enterprise, Mobile and Media applications
  • Cloud infrastructure with instant scalability for high-loaded applications
  • Cloud infrastructure with automatic failover and disaster recovery
  • Spike loads handling for media applications

This is what can be gained with Jelastic DevOps PaaS installed on top of bare metal or any IaaS. Our solution is targeted at two main markets:

  • Public and hybrid cloud environments for hosting service providers
  • Private, hybrid and multi-cloud environments for ISVs, small and medium enterprise customers

Companies can get an infrastructure that scales instantly with company needs, rapid deployment of new business applications, and reduced IT resource costs as systems management becomes simpler and compute resources are fully utilized. To make things seamless for our customers, we created an advanced deployment architecture.

Jelastic PaaS on SoftLayer Infrastructure

SoftLayer provides bare metal Infrastructure-as-a-Service that gives fantastic performance and very fast deployment of bare metal infrastructure, compared to other providers. Using SoftLayer’s self-service customer portal, API’s, and automation, the Jelastic installation time was reduced from 5 days to 4 hours.

By also offering a comprehensive suite of internal network features such as filtering of multicast, blocking ARPs, intermediate gateways, and single collision domain for an external subnet, Jelastic internal network worked out of the box, without applying extra workarounds.

SoftLayer has a huge private network with low latency; it also provides the ability to create low latency peering with a customer’s data center. This let us utilize a distributed architecture and properly  implement automatic failover and disaster recovery. The combination of these factors makes it a very good option for Jelastic hybrid cloud, both for ISVs and enterprises.

When setting up a demo environment for a potential client, Jelastic uses SoftLayer bare metal servers and high-end block storage with virtual servers. Jelastic is deployed in Dallas, Amsterdam, and Toronto, their location chosen for proximity to network PoPs. It’s critical that our platform connects at high speeds because we have customers spread across 25 countries. This way, when a client runs their own performance and speed tests, the uncompromising performance of SoftLayer bare metal truly shines, satisfying the client and helping Jelastic win their business.^2994AD167925E8D4CF98F9732D787621F3A56998E64C37DC38^pimgpsh_fullsize_distr

One of our focuses is delivering Virtual Private Cloud (Hosted Private Cloud) to enterprise customers. Many of our customers don’t want to invest in their own datacenters. And as the underlying infrastructure for this our preference is SoftLayer with its global presence. Currently, we are creating a seamless integration with IBM Cloud Marketplace to provide customers with the ability to buy a Jelastic VPC solution running on SoftLayer with a single click.

Jelastic hybrid cloud solution allows hosting companies to increase their presence in different geo-locations. Many of our cloud union partners and customers have a high demand for this scenario. Some of them intend to use direct peering (low-latency connection) to SoftLayer datacenters in Europe, to perform bursts of their media customers’ workloads.

More details about Jelastic and SoftLayer cooperation can be found in the IBM customer case study. Feel free to contact us to try out all the benefits of such combination.
