If you haven’t noticed, we’ve been putting up stats on everything we do here at Jelastic. This time we have an update for you on the usage of different Java application servers within Jelastic.
With over 7,500 developers now using Jelastic, we are getting better and better samples of the population of Java developers out there and what they are using in the environments they have created in Jelastic. So what server is the most popular?
Let’s look at the new data!
Wow! Jetty’s popularity grew quite a bit: а 4% increase over December. Looks like the popularity of Tomcat 6 continues to drop while Tomcat 7 and GlassFish’s percentage of the pie has stayed the same.
If we compare usage based on regions in January, there is not a huge difference between European and American developers’ server preferences this month.
Here are the current numbers:
The following chart tracks the change in server usage popularity over a few months, from October 2011 through January 2012.
Stay tuned! We’ll continue to post new data as we get it. It will be interesting to see how these numbers change as the Jelastic user base grows.
